Contribute to the future of Double Island

Double Island holds a special place in many hearts.

The island sits 1.4km off Palm Cove, halfway between Cairns and Port Douglas.

Surrounded by crystal clear waters and reefs teeming with colourful fish, dolphins, and turtles, the palm-fringed beach offers spectacular views of the mainland. Part of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, these characteristics and the unforgettable experiences they provide have drawn people to the region for decades.

Balancing these natural factors along with community and economic benefits is crucial for fostering a sustainable tourism economy for decades to come.

What’s next for Double Island?

Work is underway to make the island safe and ready for revitalisation and future use. This is a critical but delicate first step that will require input from technical experts to undertake the make safe works. It also marks the beginning of a new opportunity to showcase everything Double Island and Palm Cove have to offer.

As we continue this work, we’d like to hear from you.
